Prostar

With over 100 years experience PROSTAR recognises exactly what teams need from their kit – high quality sports and training wear.

Since their beginnings as a small sock factory in the north of England at the turn of the century Prostar have expanded steadily to become experts. They currently supply thousands of UK and European football clubs from junior teams to professionals within the field of Football and Cricket.

At the turn of the century Wakefield spinning mill R.H.Barker & Son Ltd took a gamble by building a sock factory on adjoining land. They were selling so much of their 'Star' quality yarn to the Leicester hosiery trade that they started to produce their own socks.

Following their success in this new venture, The Star Knitting Co. Ltd was founded and by 1914 the entire plant was converted to produce socks for H.M forces and the war effort. It was in the years following the war that Prostar really began to build success in the sportswear market. Fuelled by the nation's appetite for sporting excellence, Prostar (Star) socks were being worn by practically every football, rugby and hockey club in the UK.

By the new millennium Prostar had expanded to include jersey and shorts production and in the year 2000 they launched the first comprehensive training range. This was followed in 2001 by a sponsorship deal with F.A cup semi-finalists, Wycombe Wanderers. Since then Prostar have become the official kit suppliers to various sports teams including Shrewsbury Town football club, as well as their more recent success as the official kit suppliers to the Hampshire County Cricket Club. Prostar continues to provide high quality team wear throughout the U.K and Europe.
