Ellesse is known globally as an authentic Italian sportswear brand with a rich sporting heritage in ski and tennis that spans over 50 years.
Ellesse was born in Perugia, Italy in 1959 when founder Leonardo Servadio decided to fuse his passion for skiing with his expertise in tailoring to create revolutionary designs in skiwear.
In the 1970s Ellesse created the “Jet Pant”, the first pair of skiing trousers with special padded knees. Four years later came another first: the quilted ski jacket. It was the first item of skiwear to be “cool” off the slopes.
In the 1980s Ellesse sponsored Chrissie Evert, Boris Becker and Guillermo Vilas, the elite of the international tennis circuit. The passion, grace, spirit and style of these players inspired everyone who saw them. And they did it all wearing Ellesse.
Throughout the 1990s the Ellesse brand became synonymous with pushing the boundaries of sportswear. It led the way in sports technology with products like Magic Air- a ski jacket that raised its inside temperature automatically - and the Ellesse “Pneu” footwear range, which used air cushions to support the foot.
Today Ellesse still combines classic styling and fine detailing with a modern twist in creating contemporary, stylish, Italian sportswear.
