Canterbury, the official kit supplier to the Irish Rugby team and Pentland Brands company, has revealed the new Ireland Rugby home and alternate jerseys to be worn throughout the 2018/19 season.
The new kit, produced in Canterbury’s Innovation Lab, is designed to perform in environments where every line break, bind and change of direction has the potential to change the course of a game and season.
The removal of stretch fibres increases jersey strength while the all new green low-profile neckline eliminates distraction, increases comfort and sets new standards with a 1,100 Newton breaking point. The end product is the most technically advanced Ireland jersey ever, boasting enhanced strength, durability and weatherproofing.
Commenting on the launch of the new range, Simon Rowe, Head of Sports Marketing at Canterbury of New Zealand, said: “This the fifth year of our partnership with the IRFU and we’re proud to have played a role in the incredible successes experienced by the team on the pitch and in the lives of supporters who’ve journeyed with them along the way.
“Function and performance is at the heart of everything we do but we acknowledge that looking good is a component of performance. We believe that this range offers the best of both worlds, an elite performance garment with looks to match.”
Canterbury’s “One Team, Powered Up” campaign pays tribute to the backbone of Irish rugby – the club, player, supporter, volunteer and parent, without whom there can be no international success.
The simplified and streamlined all-green home jersey will be worn for the first time when Ireland travel to the US to face Italy on November 3rd, while the alternate jersey in teal green with dark blue accents makes its debut against the United States on November 24th in the Aviva Stadium, Dublin, Ireland.
